The Creation of the Tag Armur Frame
Having recently purchased the car of my dreams, a brand new 2005 Acura NSX, the search began for the perfect license plate frame to complement and finish the stunning beauty of my new dream car. I went to the usual auto parts stores-nothing there that I thought was worthy of my new dream car. Went on line; went to all the popular shopping websites (you know the ones); checked my car magazines trying to find the perfect license plate frame. Finally, after too many days and nights of being frustrated with the search, I finally ordered a frame that wasn't real carbon fiber, but a steel frame with carbon fiber looking tape. I paid $59.95 plus S&H and eagerly awaited the UPS truck. About a week later it arrived. I took it out of the packaging and thought to myself "well it's not what I really wanted but better than anything else I've seen so far, but it’s the best I can do for right now and I'll keep looking" (real car guys know that feeling when an accessory for their car is not quite what they wanted, but have to settle). What I was really looking for was a REAL carbon fiber license plate frame with a clear acrylic plate cover and, most importantly, NO visible screws or holes showing on the frame or license plate when looking straight on. The search went on...but to no avail!
About two months later, my next door neighbor and great friend, who as it happens is a extremely talented mechanical engineer and car guy, either got tired of my whining or really felt my pain (I like to think the later) suggested, "Let's design and manufacture a REAL carbon fiber license frame like what you want and we'll share it with all of the other car guys that are looking for the perfect license plate frame worthy of their new rides, too".
The Tag Armur License Plate Frame was Born
We designed it to be the perfect finishing touch for car enthusiast nationwide, we engineered it to exacting specification and asked car enthusiasts what features where the most important. We discovered the following:
- Make it legal; don’t cover up the registration stickers or the state information on the license plate with a thick frame.
- Protect the license plate; we use a strong clear polycarbonate lens cover.
- Engineer it to be theft-resistant, keep my special plates and my car safe.
- Use Real Carbon Fiber.
- Produce Chrome and Painted Frames.
- Make it easy to change the registration stickers, can be done in seconds, without a screwdriver.
